I’m Ofori, from Accra, GHANA.

I got into Optometry after being passionate about the program for soo many years; as early as elementary school.

What Optometry school did you attend? What does Optometry school look like in Ghana?

KNUST, Department of Optometry and Visual Science, Kumasi Ghana. Optometry school in Ghana lasts for 6 years. Clinical years are the 4th, 5th, and 6th years after which you earn the degree; Doctor Of Optometry.

What is your most memorable moment in Optometry school? 

Personally, I think the most memorable moment is our white coat ceremony, where students are ushered into their clinical years.

What does the landscape of optometry look like in Ghana for a new graduate?

For a new graduate, you’re to complete 1 year of National service to the country after which you are free to choose where you want to work, be it Government or Private.

How do you plan to impact Optometry? 

I plan to impact Optometry by involving myself in a number of screening programs, in order to bring eye care to the doorstep of many.
